Police Baton Review: ASP versus Monadnock

Looking to purchase a police baton? Then take a look at this police baton review! In this police baton review, I'm going to discuss two different police batons from the two of the largest police baton manufactures, ASP batons and Monadnock.

After reading this police baton review, I hope that you will understand the major differences in the two police batons and which police baton I prefer. I also hope that it will make your decision on which police baton to purchase a little easier.

The first police baton that I purchased was the 21" ASP black chrome baton. I originally purchased this police baton when I was first hired by my agency. I have the standard foam vinyl grip on it. It didn't take me long to realize that I didn't like the handle of the grip. I ended up putting a large grip cap on it to help maintain control of the baton. Shortly after I purchased this baton, I started to have problems with the baton collapsing on me when it was suppose to be fully extended. I contacted ASP two times and on both occasions they sent me new friction clips for it. This didn't solve the problem so I decided to purchase the Monadnock Autolock baton.

I ended up purchasing the 21" black chrome Monadnock Autolock. I immediately put a Hindi end cap on it for better control of the baton. I have had no problems with this baton in the 4 or 5 years that I have owned it. The baton stays extended when it is suppose to and is very easy to collapse it.

Both batons are about the same weight and use a similar holder to carry them in. The main difference between the two brands of police batons that I own is that when the ASP police baton is fully extended, the tip needs to be tapped on a hard surface to collapse it. The Monadnock Autolock police baton has a convenient single button on the end cap that once depressed allows the baton to be collapsed. No need to bang it on a hard surface and damage the tip or surface.

Overall, I would recommend the Monadnock Autolock police baton. I hope this police baton review helps you.
