Glo Glov

Police Equipment Reviews is always looking for police gear to test and review. We were contacted by the manufacture Glo Glov and given some Glo Glovs to test. After using them at a DUI checkpoint, we determined Glo Glov to be a nice piece of police gear.

Glo Glov was started in 1991 by a former police officer's wife. She saw the need for better visibility when the officers were performing traffic control. As a result, Glo Glov was invented. Glo Glovs increase your chances of being seen, whether on the street or on a hike. The gloves do not require any batteries since they are made of reflective material.

Currently Glo Glov has three models of gloves available. Those models are the original Glo Glov, Traffic Control Glo Glov, and the Sport Glo Glov. Police Equipment Reviews was given a pair of the Traffic Control Glo Glovs and Sport Glo Glovs. In this review, we will discuss the Traffic Control Glo Glov. To see a review of the Sport Glo Glov check out our camping gear website.

The Traffic Control Glo Glov is made of a breathable, light weight nylon/spandex material. As a result of the material, the half fingered gloves can stretch from a medium size to XX large size. This allows you to wear the Traffic Control Glo Glob by itself or over another pair of tactical gloves. On the knuckle side of the Traffic Control Glo Glov there are five yellow reflective rectangles and a large yellow reflective triangle. On the palm side there is a red reflective "stop sign".

Police Equipment Reviews had the opportunity to test the Traffic Control Glo Glovs out during a DUI checkpoint. While I did have some strange looks at the beginning of the night, those changed by the end of the night. I let all my partners try them out and they liked the gloves. The reflectors really helped while working the line of the DUI checkpoint. It seemed as is if more people paid attention to the gloves instead of the flashlights.

I have spoken with the manufacturer about the gloves and they say you can see the gloves for up one mile away with a search light! We only had the opportunity to view them from a couple blocks away, but at that distance the gloves were clearly visible! There is no doubt in Police Equipment Reviews mind that the Traffic Control Glo Glovs can be seen further away.

My only concern with the Traffic Control Glo Glovs was the placement of the red reflective "stop sign" on the palm side of the gloves. I wasn't sure how the gloves would grip my Glock pistol if I had to use it while wearing the gloves. While the gloves are definitely not slippery it might just be a personal issue! The manufacturer has not heard of any complaints about the grip and in fact has had several other positive reviews about the Traffic Control Glo Glovs.

I did try the Sport Glo Glovs at the checkpoint and I liked them also. I liked the grip on the palm side better, but had to sacrifice the red reflective "stop sign" for a smaller red reflective rectangle.

Overall, Police Equipment Reviews likes the gloves. At about $20.00 they are well worth the price and if you are a traffic cop you definately should have a pair!
