That technology is called the Bates Comfort System Technology. Simply put it is an adjustable insert in the boot with four different settings. Those settings are:

• FIRM ZONE for energy return
• CUSHION ZONE for increased shock absorption
• OUTWARD ZONE to reduce outward tilt and maximize natural walking motion and stability
• INWARD ZONE to reduce inward tilt and maximize natural walking motion and stability

These settings are controlled by a rotating tab on each insole. It is very easy to adjust and each insole can be set at different settings.

The Bates Delta boot is available in 8 inches, 6 inches, and low Oxford cut. It is available with a side zipper and with Gore Tex if you choose to the have the ultimate protection against water. The Bates Delta boots are made out of leather and nylon which provide the utmost comfort and breathable materials.
